Manchester City Roberto Mancini said his side's comeback victory against Chelsea on Wednesday was worth "more than three points" to his Barclays Premier League title-chasing side.
City were facing the prospect of championship rivals Manchester United keeping a four-point lead at the top of the table after Gary Cahill gave Chelsea the lead on 60 minutes with a deflected shot.
But a penalty from Sergio Aguero 12 minutes from time and a late Samir Nasri goal gave City a vital win which reduces the gap on the League leaders.
"Tonight we took three points but not only three points, more than three points," said Mancini. "It was a really important goal for us. I think that after tonight something changed inside us.
"We have nine games to go and we have a very difficult game on Saturday against Stoke, but this game might not only be important for the three points but for what happens after this victory.
"I think that we deserved to win this game because we had three or four chances after the first 20 minutes, and now we have this problem where we have chances but don't score.
"When they scored their goal we didn't deserve to go down 1-0, but we desired to win the game."
Mancini also had words of praise for Argentine forward Carlos Tevez, who returned to action for the first time in six months as a second-half substitute and set up Nasri for his 85th-minute winner.
"Carlos is two or three weeks away from full fitness but he showed his football brain in the minutes that he was on the pitch," added Mancini.
"He knows football. That was important because he did an incredible assist for Samir.
"He will be an important player for us. He has been back a month now and is in the dressing room happy like all the players."
