Cristiano Ronaldo returns to the ground where fans taunted him with chants of 'Messi, Messi'

Real Madrid attacker Cristiano Ronaldo could be in for a difficult evening at the GSP Stadium when the Spanish giants take on APOEL in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old previously played at APOEL's home ground on September 2, 2011 when he guided Portugal to a 4-0 win over Cyprus in a Euro 2012 qualifier, and Ronaldo received a rude welcome from the home fans.

The attacker was continually taunted by the Cypriot faithful, who chanted 'Messi, Messi' in an attempt to upset the former Manchester United star.

Ronaldo struggled to contain his frustration after the game, and stressed that the fans' behaviour was 'abnormal'.

A little over six months later, the attacker will again set foot in the GSP Stadium and could receive similar treatment on Tuesday night.
