Ribery warns Bayern to beware of 'aggressive' Marseille

As his side prepare to take on Marseille in their Champions League quarter-final first-leg clash, Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery has warned his team-mates of the danger the French side pose.

Ribery spent two years with the Ligue 1 outfit from 2005-07, and admitted that his return to the Stade Velodrome will not be comfortable.

"It feels weird for me, I played here for two years and had many good experiences with the club and the fans. They are all football-crazy here," he told reporters at a press conference.

"It will be a very difficult game, they want to beat us," he continued. "Marseille are a very aggressive team. We need to focus going into the game. But that is not easy in this stadium and with these football-crazy fans."

Ribery went on to assess the differences between football in Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga.

"In Germany the play is very aggressive, there are many goals. The stadiums are really great and always full. It's a great feeling to play here.

"In France, the stadiums are unfortunately not so nice and full. Only in Marseille, there are such great fans. Tactically, it is also quite different. There are a lot fewer goals."

Also at the press conference, Bayern captain Philipp Lahm urged his side to maintain their run of form, which has seen them win five consecutive matches.

"We must play as we have in recent games, very focused and all together," he stressed. "In the Champions League it is very important to seize our chances."
