‘A draw with Benfica would be a good result’ - Chelsea's Ramires wary of former club

Chelsea midfielder Ramires has warned his side to expect a tough test against Benfica, insisting that "a draw would be a good result" in the away leg of their Champions League quarter-final.

The Blues take the Portuguese side on at Estadio da Luz on Tuesday evening before the second leg at Stamford Bridge, with the winner of the tie set to face Barcelona or AC Milan in the last four.

Although the draw seemed favourable on paper for Chelsea, Ramires has warned his side that his former club are a force to be reckoned with, having topped their group earlier this season after twice holding Manchester United to a draw.

The midfielder told the Blues’ official website: "I know this Benfica team well, and I am expecting a difficult game but I hope Chelsea can win. They have a very talented team, and we will have to watch Pablo Aimar so closely. We have to pay attention to his game.

"A fantastic result for us would be to win 1-0 with an away goal, but a draw would also be a good result for us to take home."

The Brazilian joined the Blues from Benfica in the summer of 2010 after helping the side to their first Portuguese title in five years in his solitary season in Lisbon.

Although he feels that he made the right choice in switching to the Premier League, the 25-year-old admitted that he has missed the club and could not hide his delight at returning to play against his former team-mates.

"I am happy to come back to this pitch. I wasn't expecting to play Benfica at this moment but I am happy to do it and I have missed this stadium, so it is nice to be back again," the Brazilian added.

"The last time I was here was in the national championship against Rio Ave and we were crowned champions in Portugal, so I have very good memories.

"I have been a Chelsea player longer than Benfica, I was only here [in Portugal] for one year, but I can't say that London is any more of a home than Lisbon. They are very different and have different feels, but both are very nice.

"It would have been easier to stay here because of the language but I wanted to go to London, the Premier League and Chelsea.

"I am happy to see these players again, but I hope that I am on the winning side on Tuesday."
