Villarreal's De Guzman ponders Eredivisie return

Villarreal midfielder Jonathan de Guzman has admitted that he is considering a move back to the Eredivisie after finding playing opportunities limited at El Madrigal.

The former Netherlands Under-21 international was signed for €8.5 million by the Yellow Submarine from Mallorca last summer, but has struggled to establish himself in the first-team.

"Since January I have not seen any football action," De Guzman bemoaned in an interview with NUSport.

"The last two games under previous coach Jose Molina, I was not even considered for selection.

"Now we are with Miguel Angel Lotina, our third coach of the season, and he does not know me yet."

The former Feyenoord man confessed that he is not happy with his lack of match action and that he is pondering a return to the Eredivisie in the summer.

"I'm longing for playing time," he added.

"On the one hand, I think it is too early to come back to Netherlands, but on the other hand, if I do well, I might be noticed more by the Dutch national team coach."

De Guzman is yet to make his senior debut for Oranje but has represented the country at U21 and U23 level.
