\Jean-Pierre Papin believes that Bayern Munich are on par with Real Madrid, while Barcelona are the only team that are better than the Bundesliga giants.
The former Bayern striker was full of praise for the German side's attacking prowess, and believes they have what it takes to eliminate Olympique de Marseille in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
"Overall, I think that Bayern are on the same level as Real Madrid. Only Barcelona are slightly better," Papin was quoted as saying on the official Bayern website.
"I think that the attack will make the difference [in the game versus Marseille], and Bayern have the best front line in Europe with [Mario] Gomez, [Arjen] Robben, [Thomas] Muller and [Franck] Ribery.
"I expect a scoreless draw in the first leg. I know Didier Deschamps pretty well and I expect him to field a defensive side. I think this is Marseille's most difficult game in years."
Papin also enjoyed considerable success at Marseille as he netted well over 100 league goals for the Ligue 1 giants between 1986 and 1992.
