Sergio Ramos hails Real Madrid's squad depth

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has hailed his team's squad depth in the wake of their 3-0 Champions League quarter-final first-leg win away against APOEL on Tuesday evening.

The Santiago Bernabeu side were without midfielders such as Lassana Diarra and Xabi Alonso in Cyprus, and the former Sevilla man was happy to see Nuri Sahin step up and prove his worth.

"We know each other well and are aware of having a large and quality squad. Those who haven't played much for different reasons always step up when needed," Sergio Ramos was quoted as saying on the club's official website.

"Sahin should be congratulated for his performance. Xabi Alonso is very important, but we have many and excellent players."

The defender then went on to discuss his side's recent La Liga draws against Malaga and Villarreal, and stressed that Madrid are not in a crisis.

"Results always help calm things down. People said there was a crisis after two draws and we have to step away from that.

"We're fine and must enjoy ourselves. We have to keep away from all that and continue working every day. We are in a privileged position."

Real Madrid resume La Liga action on Saturday when they take on Osasuna.
