Gervinho hails potential of young Arsenal squad

Gervinho has expressed his belief that Arsenal have a bright future as their young squad are starting to gel and show their quality.

The 24-year-old hailed the calibre of youthful talents such as Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and, with these players starting to show their potential, the Ivorian feels that it is only a matter of time until the north London side end their trophy drought of nearly seven years.

“I think that we can cope with everything, really,” he told the club's official website. “We have had and have been through a lot of difficult times this season.

"Lots of people have waivered in their belief in us, have said this and that, but we have returned to form.

“We are a group of young lads, we get on really well, but we have got stronger during the tough times and showed the real Arsenal. We are going to try and finish the season well and we are happy with that.

“We are all still young, have got some good players and a good group. We can still win lots of trophies and do great things in the future because we are a good club.”

The Gunners have turned around a season which started poorly, winning their last seven Premier League games to put them in third place as things stand, and Gervinho has claimed that the 5-2 victory over rivals Tottenham on February 26 was pivotal in their revival.

“The derby game was great and everything came together and clicked,” he explained.

“You saw how we played as a team, the result, how the team worked together and hit some form. That is how we should be and we can use that as a yardstick.”
