Manchester United goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard could miss the rest of the season after suffering a recurrence of an ankle ligament problem.
The Danish shot-stopper has not played since January after hurting himself in training and United say they will not rush his comeback as he looks to re-build strength in his ankle.
The 27-year-old had been expected to miss around a month, but it seems the injury is more complicated than first thought.
Sir Alex Ferguson has been told that there is no specific return date and that Lindegaard is making slow progress.
Ferguson will perhaps be less convinced of the need to rush Lindegaard due to the form of first-choice goalkeeper David de Gea.
The Red Devils have also reportedly been impressed with the progress of young goalkeeper Ben Amos.
Despite his injury woes, the Dane is set for a pay increase in the summer with Ferguson ready to offer him a new £50,000-per-week deal.
