Lille president Michel Seydoux has admitted that his side are fighting a losing battle in trying to keep Eden Hazard at the Stade Lille-Metropole this summer.
Indeed United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has recently spoken of his interest in the player after travelling to France to watch him take on Lyon.
In an interview with RMC, Seydoux stated: "Hazard wants a European experience outside France. We cannot hold him.
"If he already spent two more seasons in France, it is because we have been a very strong club. We make no sales here".
Hazard has made no attempt to hide his desire to move to a top European side in the near future but recently admitted that Champions League football is a must.
This could be a blow to potential suitors Spurs, who are battling with Newcastle and Chelsea for a top four finish in the Premier League.
