Inter coach Andrea Stramaccioni has decided to leave Diego Forlan out of the starting line-up for their upcoming Serie A fixture against Udinese.

Forlan has failed to live up to his billing since joining the Nerazzurri last summer and it appears that his trainer is starting to lose patience and will relegate the former Atletico Madrid forward to the bench on Wednesday.

"This is a moment that we are analysing calmly, now Diego [Forlan] isn't expressing his best qualities, which are of international class," Stramaccioni stated during his pre-match press conference.

"In training he's doing well, but not on the pitch at the moment, without any reason for him or for me, so I decided not to play him."

The 36-year-old was asked whether the decision to rest Forlan had been shared with the player, to which he replied: "No, the answer is no, he did not say whether he agrees or not.

"The choice is mine, he is not an injured player whose return we are managing, so it is clear that the choice is mine alone.

Inter are currently three points behind Udinese and Stramaccioni acknowledged that the fixture could make all the difference in the race for Champions League football. To help achieve this aim, the coach then intimated that Wesley Sneijder could be reinstated from the opening whistle.

"We will definitely have to try and win tomorrow, a negative result would mark a difficult passage [to the Champions League] for us.

"In Florence he [Sneijder] came on and did well, and the players that I see doing well I want on the pitch, so it is possible that tomorrow he will play from the start."
