Hernanes ruled out for rest of season with thigh injury

Lazio's hopes of qualifying for the Champions League have been dealt a blow with the news that Hernanes will miss the remainder of the season with a thigh injury.

The Brazilian was withdrawn at the interval during Sunday's Serie A clash with Lecce and the Biancocelesti have now confirmed on their official website that the midfielder has suffered a first degree strain, thus ruling him out of action for between four and six weeks.

Hernanes' form of late had been poor but his unavailability for Lazio's five remaining Serie A fixtures is a setback nonetheless, particularly as Cristian Brocchi is out for the rest of the campaign, while there are ongoing doubts over whether Miroslav Klose will play any part in the run-in.

Edy Reja's men, who are currently third in the standings, three points above Udinese, take on Novara on Wednesday.
