Ben Arfa settled at Newcastle

Newcastle midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa says he is happy at the club, but would not completely rule out a move to a bigger side.

Ben Arfa, who is part of the France squad that will face England in their opening Euro 2012 Group D match on Monday, paid tribute to Magpies manager Alan Pardew for signing him permanently despite his original loan spell being cut short after he sustained a double leg fracture.

The 25-year-old told L'Equipe he was grateful for the faith shown in him by Pardew, and that it would take something special from another manager to tempt him away from St James' Park.

"I've never felt as settled at a club as I do at Newcastle. I feel like I'm somebody important there, it's a magnificent feeling," Ben Arfa told the French sports daily.

"I haven't forgotten the coach made me sign, even though I was only on loan from Marseille and I was injured.

"If I do not have a really, really serious proposal, I'll stay. If a big club comes, but does not propose something interesting - that is to say, the coach really wants me - I'll stay.

"If I do not feel the confidence of the coach 100 per cent, I will not leave.

Newcastle is a big club, even if there are bigger. I still have a three-year contract."
